Top 10 Mother's Day Gifts

Top 10 Mother’s Day Gifts

Written by shem on March 21, 2011

So it’s nearly that time of year again where we all throw uber amounts of love at the lady who brought us into the world… our Mums! Yep that’s right. Let’s lay aside the fact that there isn’t a Children’s Day of which I feel is completely out of order… and I’m not bitter… at all…honest! However I digress… Tis the season to show all mummies out there how loved they are whether it’s with a high five or a massive bunch of flowers!

The trick is finding the perfect present which best says how you feel. If you give your mum a card you bagged at the petrol station down the road 2 minutes before you got to the house, then 10 out of 10 for effort and luck my friend, but you might as well have not bothered and simply expelled gas from your bottom as that will probably contain more sentiment! Why not enter our competition to win some great prizes in excess of £700 for your mum! But if you’re not that lucky, here are my top 10 Mother’s Day pressies for those who are null and void of ideas to treat your Ma!

1. Flowers
With this you can’t go wrong at all. Mums love a bouquet of smelly pollen ridden flowers to brighten up their day or cause hayfever! So pick up a fancy fresh bunch from your local florist or have some delivered straight to your mum. Simples! Check out Interflora for great promos and deals… gowan!

2. Chocolates
This is another old skool idea for a gift. Everyone loves a bit of chocolate and I don’t mean a Kit Kat Chunky from your local corner shop! Put a bit of imagination into it! You can indulge in great bundles of choco good times from Thorntons for example. They offer a whole host of sweets from fudge to sugar free treats!

3. Gift Vouchers
This may be seen as the lazy option for a mother’s day gift, but for those picky mums out there who always ask you if you have the receipt when you hand over that fab cardigan which brings out the colour of their eyes… gift vouchers win all day every day!

4. Personalised Photobooks
Memories are fabulous things… and memories can be captured in photos which then can be displayed in a book to keep forever! So collate some great family snaps and head over to such websites like Photobox or Snapfish and get down with your creative self!

5. Personalised Cards
Yes you can head down to your local card shop and pick up a generic Mother’s Day card, or you can create a totally unique one especially for your mum! Add the personal touch with your ma’s name or edit the card to make it specific to a personal joke perhaps! Check out Moonpig who offer a massive range of designs for every occasion.

6. Dinner
Your mum has been cooking your tea for years now so wouldn’t it be nice to take her out for a slap up meal! Make the effort and don’t just take her down to your local for a packet of pork scratchings, but dine at one of her favourite restaurants perhaps. Huge brownie points my friend!

7. Musical Theatre or a Play
Add a dash of culture this mother’s day and take your mum out to see the latest show in the West End perhaps. There is always something on which should suit all tastes, so grab some tickets from Ticket Master or check out the latest deals from Theatre Tickets Direct for example. Winner!

8. Jewellery
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend… but this is your mum and that is weird! However you can treat your mother to a nice bit of bling in the shape of a pendant perhaps which has a pic of you inside, or maybe a fancy watch like in the prize bundle we are giving away! Visit H Samuel for an array of goodies to get your mum all over excited!

9. Hamper
This is fast becoming a sought after present and it includes a colourful collection of treats to make your mum smile! Choose from food hampers, wine or chocolates depending on what floats your mum’s boat! With a bit of fancy gift wrapping you will definitely be golden child!

10. DVD Boxsets
All mums are ‘into’ something on telly whether that is 24, Downton Abbey or the complete series of the A Team! You can grab a boxset of your mum’s fave show from Amazon or even ASDA Entertainment and then extend the love by watching it with her on a Friday night! Great company and great TV… everyone’s a winner!
